Several major projects are under way or will be rolled out across the road network in the coming months. These projects are essential to maintain, repair and modernize critical transportation infrastructure, but they will inevitably affect travel.

Coordinated work to reduce disruption

Not all projects will be in progress at the same time, thanks to close coordination among Mobilité Montréal partners. By carefully staggering closures, they avoid overloading any one area and keep disruptions for road users to a minimum.

To further ease the impact, much of the work will be scheduled at night and on weekends, when traffic is lighter. This approach is designed to keep things running as smooth as possible during peak hours.

Areas to watch

  1. Large area between A-15 (Décarie), A-40 (Métropolitaine), A‑25 and R‑132
    • Downtown Montréal will be especially busy, with work planned on Sainte-Catherine and Saint-Jacques and in the Berri-UQAM area. Additional projects are also scheduled on A-10 (Bonaventure) and along R‑136 (Ville-Marie and Viger tunnels).
  2. Southwest part of the island
    • Complete closures with contraflow traffic are planned over several weekends on the Honoré-Mercier bridge. Starting in August, additional night- and weekend-time restrictions will affect the ramps at the Saint-Pierre interchange.
  3. Saint-Laurent and Ahuntsic-Cartierville sectors
    • Full night and weekend closures are planned on A-520. Paving work is also scheduled on A-15 (Des Laurentides) and on A-40 (Métropolitaine) heading east.

Plan ahead – it pays off!

In addition to roadwork, several major events will generate extra travel during the summer. To get around, the public is strongly encouraged to use pubic transit, check current disruptions on Québec 511 and allow extra travel time.

Mobilité Montréal will continue to provide up-to-date information across its platforms throughout the season.
